Believe it or not, instead of dating issues the topic of relationship break ups takes up most of the mail we receive at Christian Dating Service Plus! I guess the reason for this is that relationship break ups are one of the most painful experiences to endure, right up there with unrequited love.
The fact is, relationship breakups cause lots of heartbreak, even when we know it wasn’t a healthy relationship and we probably should have dumped it a while back. Why do relationship breakups cause so much pain? It’s simple. Whenever we invest our time, money and heart into someone it turns into major disappointment if a relationship breakup occurs.
Relationship Break Ups cause singles to grieve loss in a number of ways:

- A relationship break up involves loss of a vision of “things that could have been”
- A relationship break up could entail loss of self esteem
Overall, no one should go through the break up of a serious relationship without help.

One of the most important things we teach singles in our parent education classes is learning how to forgive their mates or previous dating partners. Yea, that includes learning how to forgive a jerk, abuser or user. Why? Learning how to forgive speeds the healing process, and prepares for future, healthy boyfriend/girlfriend dating relationships. Conversely, a lack of forgiveness brings bitterness and additional suffering.
Learning How to Forgive Podcast
Don Henley of Eagles fame sings about the need for forgiving and forgiveness in his song by the same name. Yet, some Christian singles simply do not want to forgive others for past hurts. Instead of making peace with the past, they prefer to hold grudges. - They don’t hold grudges. 1Corinthians 13:5 states love keeps no record of wrong. Fact is, we’re all gonna be needing forgiveness now and again in all our relationships. If your Christian boyfriend or girlfriend finds it hard to show forgiveness, and keep harping on wrongs done, chances are this is not the dating match for you.
- They love are faith-filled optimists and love having fun. Did you ever notice how contagious light-hearted people are? Life is hard at times, but hanging around a Christian boyfriend or girlfriend who empathizes the positive goes a long way.
