Insecurity in Relationships-Christian Dating

As a Christian single, do you suffer from insecurity in relationships? If you suffer insecurity in your Christian dating relationship (like I used to) you probably have inner voices spewing insecure thoughts  like these about your date:

  • “This is too good to be true, she’s bound to break up with me.”
  • “When she finds out what I’m really like she’s gonna reject me like the others did.”
  • “I just know my date is cheating on me.”

Overcoming Insecurity in Relationships

People with low self esteem tend to suffer from insecurities in their dating  and love  relationships. Yet, the following simple steps in the way they think can lessen the insecurity they fell in relationships:

  1. Get a Reality Check from a trusted friend. Many times people who are insecure need help differentiating between what is “real” and what is “fantasy”.
  2. Stop being a control freak. Fact is much of one’s insecurity in relationships is due to trying to control every little issue in a relationship.
  3. Stop over analyzing every word your date says. Over analysis always leads to no good. The key in any positive Christian relationship  to relax and enjoy your date one day at a time. Jesus taught us this about life in general in Matthew 6:34, and living by this is a great antidote for the insecurity found in some relationships.
