Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban got married this past weekend, but I chose to go to a best friend’s wedding instead. Margaret met Tom, her husband, through one of the online Christian dating sites we list on this site, and had a two year long distance dating relationship before tying the knot. It was the most unlikely of circumstances that these Christian singles even crossed paths online, but our God has a way of doing things like that.
As I watched the emotional exchange of wedding vows a mere five feet away, I started playing flashbacks in my mind of several key events in Margaret’s life over the past decade.
I remembered the day she came into my office and told me that Jesus got a hold of her, and had forgiven her with his healing power. Having prayed for her salvation for many years, we both wept tears of joy on that precious day! The changes in her life that followed were profound and nothing short of miraculous. But our God has a way of doing things like that.
Several years later, as a Christian single woman in her late thirties, Margaret began to waiver in faith and wonder if she would ever meet the man of her dreams. So we prayed and wept before the Lord that she would find a single Christian guy that loved Jesus as much as she did.
Using an online Christian dating service was not Margaret’s idea of “trusting in the Lord” for a single man. For years she refused to even consider it. Only because several Christian friends bought her an eHarmony membership did she even agree to give it a try. Wouldn’t you know that an online Christian dating service was the exact tool the Lord chose to bring this wonderful couple together? Yes, but our God has a way of doing things like that.
My mind floated back to the wedding ceremony just as the pastor announced them man and wife. As they passionately kissed each other, my heart was overcome with a sense of God’s amazing love and faithfullness to His children.
Today as I write this, I know there are Christian singles out there waiting on God for that special soulmate. Many have let us know they are discouraged and worried that they may never get married. Hey, trusting the Lord during times when we see nothing tangible happening is always a tough thing.
But if you are in a similar position be encouraged by remembering that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and He promises to provide all of your needs according to His glorious riches (Phil 4:19). Afterall, your God has a way of doing things like that.

Happy Father’s Day all! I want to especially send out a holler to all those Christian single parent dads who sacrifice daily for the sake of their children. You know the ones I am talking about: They put their own romantic aspirations on hold in order to take care of a thousand other responsiblities. Like single moms, your job is never done. But today we want to applaud who you are, and what you mean to us. Do you hear the clapping?
Listen, I know Father’s Day is not a real happy day for lots of singles. Sadly, some of us had fathers who were abusive and mean, or never expressed love. Not even a hug! Others, like myself, had wonderful dads who were always there when we needed help or encouragement. Only problem is, they’re not here today so we can’t celebrate Father’s Day with them and let them know all over again how much we love them. I miss you daddy!
Heavenly Father’s Day
No matter what you’re feeling today about Father’s Day, the neat thing is that there is a Heavenly Father who loves you right where you are! Whether you are a single Christian father struggling with the daily duties of parenthood, a single person with painful memories of a bad dad, or a guy or gal just missing your father, our Heavenly Father will never let us down. We can go to Him with all of our burdens (Psalms 55:22), and He will never let us fall. Sometimes singles can feel so alone in the world, especially without the support of loving parents. But Psalm 27:10 promises: “When my mother and father forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” We can count on the words of God because He is faithful.

While a recent Gallup Poll on USA interracial dating found that over 95% of 18-29 year-olds approve of dating between the races, only 45% of the over 65 crowd agree. Less than a decade before, both of these age groups had significantly less approval for interracial dating. I guess we should have predicted these survey findings when even Bob Jones University lifted its interracial dating ban six years ago.
Singles generally only date those with whom they have had regular interaction. Although the Christian Church sadly remains a largely segregated place on Sundays, this is certainly less the case due to the proliferation of the multicultural megachurch within the last decade.
Overall, it will be interesting to see how the rise in multicultural megachurches effect interracial dating among Christian singles.
