Sickness and Being Single

Dealing with sickness as a single person can be a scary and humbling experience. Married folks have their spouses to nurse them through sickness and hard times. However, many single Christians often have to rely on themselves or if they’re blessed, a few good friends from their Christian singles group.

Sick, Single and Alone?

Are you suffering alone with a sickness or disability today? Please let us know so we can pray for you. Remember, our Lord is the Great Physician, and nothing is too difficult for Him. Although our Jesus does not always physically heal us on earth, He always provides us His grace. Like St. Paul, another Christian single with a “thorn in the flesh”, we can trust His wonderful promise found in our Bible Verse of the Day:

-And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me-2 Corinthians 12:9

Phil Stacey is out of American Idol

Ok, Phil Stacey, a finalist on American Idol, is a Christian guy who has been an uplifting influence on the show, has been voted out. Phil Stacey’s one comment before finding out the results: “Hey, we’ve just been blessed to be here.” Now that’s a great attitude if I ever saw one. And I’m not just saying this because Phil Stacey is a fellow Liberty Seminary student.

Phil Stacey Gets God’s Vote

I know God’s hand is on Phil wherever he goes. I am also sure he will succeed in the Contemporary Christian Music Business, because he is trusting in the Lord. God bless you, Phil!

Bible Verse of Day

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths-Proverbs 3:5,6

Sad Love Songs

Jim Croce, a 70s songwriter, wrote some of the most amazing and sad love songs you will ever find. A love song is really a relationship poem that will convey heartfelt feelings about what a person has gone through in a particular relationship. A good love song, if it is sad, will actually make you feel like you are walking in the writers shoes, and experiencing the same sorrow. Sigh.

Favorite Sad Love Song

One of my favorite sad love songs is Jim Croce’s Time in a Bottle. Basically, the song is about not having enough time to spend with the person you love. Ironically, Jim died in a crash shortly after publishing it. He had written it this sad love song about his wife and music career. For this reason, this sad love song is not only beautiful , but eerie in a way. It certainly reminds me of how mortal I am, and that I should not take time for granted. In this sense, this sad love song is deeply effective:

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go
Through time with

Bible Verse of Day: James 4:13,14:

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

As a single Christian, do you have a favorite sad love song?
