Sexual Purity and the Bible

That’s right-we are going to talk about sexual purity, the topic that everybody likes to avoid.  Sexual impurity ranges from a lust-full thought to actual acts of perverted behavior.  In today’s modern world, every where you look, there’s sex and very rarely is it between two married people.  If you turn on the TV, you see scantily clad women on MTV, and HBO.  You can go to the super market to see magazines with half naked models and articles about sex.  The internet is full of pornography sites and pop-up adds that take you to adult personal sites.  Temptation is everywhere!  How, as Christians, are we supposed to stay pure in today’s world?

The first thing that you need to do is to pray.  Pray and pour your heart out to the Lord.  Tell him how much you are struggling to stay pure, and ask him for his help on your journey.  Every day, ask the lord to help you to stay pure.  Take it day by day, and remember that you can do all things with the Lord on your side.

You also have to stop believing all of Satan’s lies and excuses about sex.  These include:

  • I cannot stay pure. Nobody is perfect.
  • God will forgive me so i can do it and then ask for forgiveness
  • I’ve gone too far to turn back now
  • If God didn’t want me to have sex, he wouldn’t have given me these desires
  • Everybody else is doing it

The truth is that If we truly love the Lord, our hearts won’t be totally satisfied unless we live the way that he intended for us.  He would not command us to do something impossible and if we have the holy spirit within us, then we can do all things with his power.

Another thing that you can do is to meditate on the following bible verses 1 Corinthians 6 18 &19.  The verses are very straight forward.

Bible Verse of Day

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own
1 Corinthians6, 18&19

Letting Go of a Relationship

Most of us know that letting go of a relationship, even if it’s a toxic relationship, is one of the most difficult thing to do. In a previous article we mentioned when it might be a good idea to let go of a relationship However,  many single Christians have communicated to us that simply knowing letting go of a relationship is not enough. One single Christian girl wrote that her cheating boyfriend has her under his power, and try as she might, she cannot break free by breaking up with him.

Letting Go of a Relationship Tips

Does the above scenario describe you? Don’t feel bad. You’re in good company. In Romans 7 Paul stated the right stuff he intended to do, he didn’t do. Instead he kept repeating the same stupid stuff over and over again. Paul had to let go of a broken relationship with something called sin. He couldn’t do it. He could NOT do it, but when he realized that it wasn’t about him, but Jesus who WAS able to deliver him, he had victory

Bible Verse of Day

~O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord~Romans 7:24,25
