Tired of the Christian dating scene, one of my friends stated until further notice she is dating a snuggie.   Never heard of the concept of dating a snuggie? For those unfamiliar, snuggies are those warm and cuddly body blanket thingies. So when this single gal comes home from work after a hard day, she  stated slips into one of these babies and the stress just melts away. “They don’t cheat and offer unconditional love”, she quipped.

Of course y freind has not cracked up.  Yet I almost could understand if she really was dating a snuggie because those suckers are quite cozy and comforting. And hey, their a cheap date at less than 20 bucks a shot.

But Sue (not her real name) was simply expressing her frustration at not being able to find a suitable Christian date that both respects her and is serious about their faith. She’s tired of the dating game filled with cheater, liars  and other assorted losers.

How about YOU?  Have you felt like kissing dating goodbye for any of the above reasons?  Is dating a snuggie looking good about now? My advice here is to take a step back and simply pray. Pray your heart out to the Lord who understands where you are coming from, and promises to lead you in the way you should go.

My second piece of advice is to  write down  your dating goals all of the dating options you can think of. Have you truly exhausted all places singles would go to meet other singles? Have you ever online Christian dating a whirl? There are some great reasons to try a Christian dating site like Eharmony Dating Service, and they might very well end up being a little better than a snuggie.

Christian Tatoos and Christian Singles

Inquiring single Christian minds want to know:  Should a Christian  get tatoos? Are Christian tatoos ok?   Depending on who you talk to, Christian tatoos are either devilish or cool. What do you think?

Christian Tatoos and the Bible

So what does the Bible say about tatoos? In  Leviticus 19:28, it reads, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.”  This command sounds plain enough, but the problem for those who feel tatoos, even Christian tatoos, are unbiblcal presents itself by reading the verses before this one. For example check out v. 19: “Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” Or how about v. 27: “Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.”

As one can observe from the above verses,  except if one is a strict Reconstructionist,  vs. 19 and 27 are not being abided by today by the vast majority of Christians.

So what’s the deal here regarding Christian tatoos? Does this suggest that the Scriptures should not be obeyed?  By no means!  Rather, we simply need to practice better hermeneutics in order to understand what and why the LORD commanded such things, and  how to apply those truths to our lives in a way that honors Christ.  If you do your research,  and I am not gonna do  all of it for you, you will see that  the forbidding of tatoos in Scriptures had to do with keeping the Israelites from practicing  idolatry and  idol worship.

Overall, I don’t have any Christian tatoos, but my feeling is they are not sinful in and of themselves. However, if a Christian single gets a tatoo, it should not bring reproach to Jesus or reflect anything God calls “evil.” In fact, everything we do should  bring glory and recognition to Him, including our tatoos.
