You’ll read it at most online dating sites - but how much notice do we really take of it.
Statistics show that if you have a photo posted, you’re much more likely to get visits, be invited to chat or receive emails.
Regrettably, some people take this to mean any photo, however poorly taken, is better than none.
However, the statistics would probably also show that those grainy “taken on my webcam” photos are probably not the most attractive or likely way to induce contact from the opposite sex !
If you’re serious about finding a partner through online dating, it’s worth paying some attention to your photo. After all, that’s usually the first thing that any potential partner is going to see of you.
If you’re not much of a photographer, it’s worth taking a friend into your confidence and asking them for help. Most people have access to or own a decent digital camera, these can take far more flattering photos than your webcam or a photo booth.
Try taking photos on a bright day, so that you don’t need to use much or any flashlight. Take several pictures, closeup, different angles, smiling or just happy. Then ask one or two friends which they prefer - it’s hard to make a judgement yourself of what’s a good and flattering likeness of you.
Just do it - don’t put it off, grab a friend and a camera, and replace any unsightly, non-flattering photo with one that’ll be attractive and get people to click to view your profile.
If you’re not happy about getting free help from friends and family, if you live in the US or Canada, you could try Look Better Online who offer a professional service in major cities or you could try using a local professional photographer, but be sure to get a firm quote for their services first.
Remember, you could be getting five times as many emails, just by having a good photo online, so don’t delay, try changing it today!

So another Valentine’s Day has come and gone and you still haven’t found that perfect match? I know some looking for that perfect match may feel like those poor folks from the Island of Misfit Toys, when they thought Rudolph and Santa had passed them by yet again. Sigh.
But please…don’t believe your doubts on this matter of finding your perfect match. The key here is waiting on God for His perfect timing. The world may tell you otherwise, but believe me, this is the way to go.
For whatever it’s worth, did you know that family counselors have found that the biggest break up day of the year is…the day after February 14? I can’t help but feel sorry for those dating singles who thought they had the perfect match in some person, but instead are now heartbroken.
The Perfect Match For You Will Happen in His Perfect Time
If you’re feeling down about your perfect match prospects, remember God promises to provide for all of your needs (Phil. 4:19), which includes your need for companionship. Just hang in there, and trust Him to do this in His time.

Many singles contact us for Christian relationship advice, often asking questions like, “Should I get out of this relationship?” or “Should I leave this person?” Many times, however, Christian relationship advice is hard to give on issues like these because we don’t have all the information on the involved parties. Also, when dishing out Christian relationship advice, I’ve learned a long time ago to get both sides of the story before giving any advice on a topic.
Christian Relationship Advice in the Bible
Perhaps most important of all, specific Christian relationship advice on dating and issues related to singles is rarely found in the Scriptures. So what kind of Christian relationship advice do we offer?
First, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you have the Holy Spirit, the counselor of truth, abiding in you. He promises to guide you and lead in all areas, including helping you make wise decisions regarding relationships. In our Bible verse of the day, James 1:5 reads:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Secondly, we have written a number of general Christian relationship advice articles dealing with the Christian singles life. These articles may be useful for Christians seeking general Chrisrtian relationship advice. For example:
