Christian Dating Principles
Many singles write us asking for Christian dating principles or Christian dating rules to guide their dating lives. Well listen. I don’t claim to be a Christian dating expert, but I do know that the Scriptures have some wonderful stuff from which we can cobble some general Christian dating principles.
Top Christian Dating Principles for Singles
- Guard Your Heart- This means not rushing in like a fool in love into a Christian dating relationship but be sensible about it. No need to be a desperate Christian dater here. “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life (Proverbs 4:23)” So take time to see if you are really compatible with your Christian date before giving away your heart. Okay?
- You Are Who You Date- Yeah I know…the saying is “you are what you eat.” But the fact is you will be highly influenced by the person you end up dating. If you are dating an unbeliever, even for “missionary dating” reasons, chances are you will be negatively influenced by him or her “Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33).
- Know What Love Is- So you think you have all the signs of a great Christian dating relationship? Put your Christian dating to the true love or lust test. “Love is patient, love is kind…..” (1 Corinthians 13)
Overall, Christian dating can be confusing indeed, but if you put into practice the above Christian dating principles and the belove Bible verse of the day I don’t think you can go wrong.
~Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God for this is your spiritual act of worship~Romans 12:1
