Single Christian Women in the Bible

There are many single Christian women listed in the Bible, and they played a huge role in the spread of the gospel in the early Church. I never really thought about this myself until some single Christian woman during a Bible study asked about single Christian women role models in the Scriptures. So I ended up doing a little bit of digging and found the following single Christian women listed at the bottom of this page.*

An Amazing Single Christian Woman

One of my favorite single Christian women in the NT was Lydia. I wonder what this Christian single woman would have thought of the modern women’s liberation movement. Here is part of her bio:

This single Christian woman was an independent and succesful businesswoman, who was in charge of her own household.

This single Christian woman, the first Christian convert in Europe, also started Europe’s first church right out of her own home! In fact, many of the first antendees of this church were right out of her own household, because she exposed them to words of the Gospel. Had Lydia not taken a faith filled risk by inviting male strangers (Paul and co.) into her home, this may never have occurred.

This single Christian woman had a servant’s heart, helping to take care of the needs of Paul and other missionaries, which in turn helped spread the good news about Jesus even more.

Talk about a positive example of a single Christian woman! This one single Christian made such a difference in the world, and so can we!

Bible Verse of Day

And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of His servant” Luke 1:46-48

If you are a single Christian woman, or any Christian for that matter, struggling to balance personal desires (such as dating), job and ministry, remember you have a Lord who knows your name, and is intimately aware of your heart’s needs and burdens.
