Christian Single Adults Ministries(share?)

single adult ministry

Ok, check it out Christian single adults: Single adults make up over 40% of the adult population in the US alone. That’s over 90 million single adults! The vast majority of these singles adults, even if they claim to have faith in God, avoid church like a bad date that keeps on calling. Why is this so?

Although single adults (single never-married, single parents, divorced singles, widows, etc) are a huge mission field and have a huge number of felt needs, churches simply do not have the desire or know-how to reach out to this neglected segment of our society.

One of the missions of Christian Dating Service Plus is to help single adults plug into a good local church where they can find support and help others as well. If you are a single adult looking for a good church or Christian singles group, check out some of our single adult resources on this page. Another website of interest is singleadultminitry.com.

If you are a single adult and residing in NJ, you may be interested in getting involved with Oasis Church, a new contemporary Christian church we are starting that takes into account the needs and pressures of single adults. You can check out what we’re about by checking out our UTube video:

If you are a Christian single adult who likes church but don’t feel you fit in anywhere in particular, this could be the place for you to get and give support. You’ll fit right in this exciting new work. We promise! Remember, as a Christian single adult you have an important role to play in the body of Christ, and have gifts you have gifts that the church can use.

Bible Verse of the Day

~There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good~1Cor 12:4-7

The Great Commission and Single Adults(share?)

great commission

In a previous article related to the Great Commission, we mentioned that single adults are one of the most unchurched groups of people. Although the Great Commission commands us to preach the gospel to every creature, million of singles are unreached and still living in spiritual darkness. Why is this? The sad but true story is that many churches and individual Christians do not take the great Commission seriously. For example, in his influential book, The Disciple-Making Pastor, Bill Hull stated that only 7% of evangelical Christians share their faith with others.

Obeying the Great Commission

What they’ve taught us at Liberty Seminary regarding the great Commission is that people are more likely to become Christians if they hear the Gosepel message from people like themselves. Therefore, as Christian singles, we have a great opportunity and obligation to share Christ with other singles who have not experienced Jesus’ love.

In our daily devotional, Pastor Dave Gremban, of Calvary Chapel Ann Arbor (MI), shares his insights on the responsibilities we have have as believers to share our light to a dying world:

In Ephesians 5:8-14, we learn about darkness versus light. Paul gives us three characteristics of children of light: they bear fruit (such as goodness, righteousness, and truth), they find out what pleases the Lord (via the Word, prayer, sensitivity to the Spirit’s promptings, etc.), and they choose not to mix with darkness (they refuse to share with deeds of darkness in any way).

Believers who walk as children of light shine ever so brightly, exposing darkness and giving people opportunity to respond to the light of Christ. What a privilege to be used by God to shine in a dark world for His glory. Let’s walk as children of light!

As a single Christian, are you living so that other singles are being drawn to Christ, or away from Him? What are your thoughts on the Great Commission?

Bible Verse of Day

-We are therefore Christ’s Ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.- 2 Corinthians 5:20

Emerging Church Movement and Single Adults Who Think Church Sucks(share)

The emerging or emergent church “conversation” is changing the way many Christians think about reaching singles, who are by far the most unchurched group in places like the US and UK. As some emerging church propenents rightly remind us, the vast majority of the 90 million American single adults avoid traditional church at all costs, and something must be done to reach them
While I’m not part of the emerging church movement because I do believe in propositional truths as found in the Scriptures, I certainly appreciate some of it’s aspects.

The Emerging Church and Missional Living

One emerging church view I agree with is that all believers should be missionaries, lovingly engaging the unchurched around them. Sadly, most people in the Evangelical Church feel that Jesus left us on earth primarily to fellowship with each other instead of reaching lost, poor souls. Ouch!

The emerging church issue aside, as a single Christian who has experienced His love and forgiveness, how are you living and dating to effect the other singles in your midst who are in need of a Saviour? Does it really matter to you? To your church?

Bible Verse of Day

“I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”

1 Corinthians 9:22,23
