Waiting For Jesus’ Return as Singles
A number of single Christians I have spoken to recently have candidly told me they hope Jesus doesn’t come back until they can at least get married and have sex! Some of us may be amused with this answer, but it made me think about my own heart. Am I really looking forward to the return of Christ, which the Bible calls “our blessed hope?” How about you? In Revelation 19, we see the return of Christ. Jesus came the first time as a suffering servant; He will come again as a conquering King. Jesus came the first time wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger; He will come again dressed in a blood-dipped robe and riding on a white horse.
Jesus came the first time only to wear a crown of thorns; He will come again wearing many crowns. Let us live in light of Christ’s sure return. As a bride readies herself for her groom, may we ready ourselves for an awesome eternity with Christ!
