The following article was by one of our readers: I entered into a rebound relationship with a woman who had only been divorced for 3 months after 16 years of marriage. Very stupid move on my part. She assured me that they had been separated for 18 months and she was completely over him. Not only that, but she was the one to initiate the divorce, so I really did think she was ready for a new relationship. She pursued me pretty aggressively, texting me often, calling just to say hi, and telling me she loved me after only 5 or 6 weeks of dating. We got along beautifully, and were intensely attracted to each other. After 9 months of walking on air and feeling like I had finally found the true love one I was supposed to be with, she very abruptly broke things off. She told me in a 10 minute phone conversation that we were in different places in life, and I have not heard from her since. I would advise anyone contemplating getting involved with someone who is just out of a serious relationship, DON”T!!! This is a rebound dating relationship! No matter what they say or how ready they seem for a commitment, they are not! They most likely have good intentions and are good people, but they are in a very bad place for a relationship right now. I knew in the back of my mind when I met her that dating her being freshly divorced might be a problem, but I chose to stay with her anyway. I have learned a very painful lesson, this is the lowest I have felt in a long time. I feel nauseous all the time and I keep thinking about how happy I was with her and the hopes I had for a future with her. I know on an intellectual level that I will feel better about this someday, but right now I am just broken hearted and devastated. Don’t make the same mistake I did, you will regret it.
